Floating Currencies

The Canadian dollar has tumbled to ~$0.81 USD over the past few months, dropping from the parity mark it hovered at a year ago, owing to the collapse of world oil prices that had buoyed its value. A number of my customers reside in the United States, yielding a 25% savings on their bills automatically (I bill in CAD).

This aspect of world trade has always fascinated me, where a product made several thousand miles from me has a significant impact on my business. Alas, ultimately it works quite well for me, and added to discounting I’ve already put in place yields a fantastic situation for clients.
